How to color Sports pages

There's really no offside rule when it comes to coloring. Whatever looks good to your kid is the right answer. But if they want their athletes to look game-ready, here are a few sport-specific ideas.

Team jerseys are where kids can get creative. They can copy their real team's colors - cherry red and white for a baseball uniform, royal blue and gold for basketball - or invent a brand new team with whatever combination they like. A lime green and black soccer kit? That's a serious squad.
Skin tones look more natural with colored pencils than markers. Start with a light base like peach or warm brown, then add a slightly darker shade along the arms, legs, and under the chin for a bit of depth. It doesn't need to be perfect - even rough shading makes figures look less flat.
Grass and outdoor fields are simple but easy to get wrong. Use two greens - a bright lime for sunlit areas and a deeper forest green for shadows or field edges. It stops the background looking like one solid block. For indoor basketball courts, try warm tan or honey with darker lines for the floor markings.
Balls and equipment are usually small on the page but make a big difference. Keep baseballs white with red stitching, soccer balls white and black, footballs warm brown, and basketballs burnt orange. Or throw the rulebook out - a bright pink soccer ball still scores goals.
