That big, squishy face is what makes a Boxer so fun to draw and color. They have a flat nose, droopy cheeks, and a lower jaw that sticks out a tiny bit further than the top one. Spend some extra time on the face - getting those wrinkles and folds right is what makes a Boxer look like a Boxer.
Most Boxers are a warm golden-brown color called fawn. It's not quite orange and not quite brown - somewhere right in between. Some Boxers are brindle instead, which means they have dark stripes over a lighter base, a bit like a tiger pattern but softer and more blended. Try drawing thin, wobbly lines in a darker brown over your fawn base to get the brindle look.
Almost all Boxers have a black "mask" on their face. The dark color covers the muzzle and sometimes goes up around the eyes too.
That black mask is one of the most important parts to get right. Color the muzzle and the area around the mouth in black or very dark brown, then blend it into the lighter fawn on the rest of the head.
Boxers also have white patches - usually on the chest, paws, and sometimes a stripe up the face. Leave those areas blank or very lightly colored so they stand out against the darker fur.
Boxers have very short, smooth fur that sits tight against their body. That's why they always look so strong and muscular - you can see the shape of their muscles through the coat.
Because the coat is so short, you don't need fluffy or wavy strokes at all. Smooth, even coloring works best - try to keep it as clean and gap-free as you can.
