Forget everything you've learned about coloring dog fur so far. Miniature Poodles don't have straight, flat, or wavy fur - they have tight curls all over their body. That means instead of long strokes or short flicks, try tiny circles or small loopy scribbles. It sounds messy, but it's actually the best way to make a Poodle's coat look right.
Miniature Poodles come in lots of solid colors - white, black, apricot (a soft peachy-orange), cream, silver, brown, and red. Most are one color all over, which keeps things simple. If yours is white, don't just leave it blank - use a very light gray or pale blue pencil to add soft shadows under the chin, behind the ears, and along the belly. That way the dog won't disappear into the page.
A Poodle's fur never stops growing. If it isn't trimmed, it just keeps getting curlier and poofier - which is why they need regular haircuts.
Some of our Miniature Poodle coloring pages show the dog with a fancy haircut - puffy legs, a round head, and a pom-pom on the tail. Others show a simpler, all-over curly look. For the puffy areas, press harder and pack those little circles in tight. For the trimmed areas, keep it lighter and smoother to show the difference.
Even though they look fancy, Poodles are actually one of the smartest dog breeds. They learn tricks faster than almost any other dog.
The face is neat and clean compared to the rest of the body, with dark oval eyes and a slim nose. Use a darker shade of whatever color your Poodle is around the eyes and muzzle to give the face some shape against all that curly fluff.
